Sew & Design Instructor, Youth Designer’s Club Director
I have been passing on my love of sewing as part of the Sew & Design Studio’s team of designers/instructors for the past two years!
I am married to Ken Mackey, (we began our married life in 1980) and we have two grown, married children. Our amazing son KC Mackey is married to our lovely daughter-in-law, Wendy Wang. Our wonderful daughter Jillian is married to our best son-in-law in the world ever, Chris Dillon. They are the parents of our first, beautiful grandchild, Natalie. I am as full-time a grandma as my husband, daughter, and son-in-law will allow.
In my almost 60 years, I have pursued a variety of interests. My family was involved in theater for about ten years. We worked backstage, sewed costumes, build sets, learned lines and “played on the boards”. I ran en ebay business selling fabric from “stash” so I could make room for more. I am learned Korean Natural Farming Techniques. Recently, I have had the privilege of sharing my love of sewing and crafting with students who are the same age I was when I became “hooked” - 7th grade Home Economics.
I have my Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from the former Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, MO. I retired and home schooled two children (they both went on to get college degrees so I guess it worked.)
Interested in also teaching:
Retrovating workshops! Next year, dependent on interest.
I love teaching any beginning student who is eager to learn, but you will generally find me teaching kids.
Youth Designer’s Club:
A club for 8-12 year olds to take their foundation and gain the skills needed to be a seamstress.
Will teach a few dependent on availability
Knitting, embroidery, crafting, retrovating (repurposing thrift store clothing)
